A sequential Monte Carlo approach for extended object tracking in the presence of clutter

چکیده
Extended objects are characterised with multiple measurements originated from different locations of the object surface. This paper presents a novel Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) approach for extended object tracking in the presence of clutter. This framework is formulated for general nonlinear problems. The main contribution of this work is in the derivation of the likelihood function for nonlinear measurement model in the presence of clutter, with sets of measurements belonging to a bounded region. Simulation results are presented when the object is surrounded by a circular region. Accurate estimation results are presented both for the object kinematic state and object extent.

Rao-Blackwellized Monte Carlo Data Association for Multiple Target Tracking
We propose a new Rao-Blackwellized sequential Monte Carlo method for tracking multiple targets in presence of clutter and false alarm measurements. The advantage of the new approach is that Rao-Blackwellization allows the estimation algorithm to be partitioned into single target tracking and data association sub-problems, where the single target tracking sub-problem can be solved by Kalman filt...
متن کاملClutter Removal in Sonar Image Target Tracking Using PHD Filter
In this paper we have presented a new procedure for sonar image target tracking using PHD filter besides K-means algorithm in high density clutter environment. We have presented K-means as data clustering technique in this paper to estimate the location of targets. Sonar images target tracking is a very good sample of high clutter environment. As can be seen, PHD filter because of its special f...
متن کاملA Sequential Monte Carlo Framework for Extended Object Tracking
In this paper we consider the problem of extended object tracking. An extended object is modelled as a set of point features in a target reference frame. The dynamics of the extended object are formulated in terms of the translation and rotation of the target reference frame relative to a fixed reference frame. This leads to realistic, yet simple, models for the object motion. We assume that th...
متن کاملSequential Monte Carlo Methods for Joint Detection and Tracking of Multiaspect Targets in Infrared Radar Images
We present in this paper a sequential Monte Carlo methodology for joint detection and tracking of a multiaspect target in image sequences. Unlike the traditional contact/association approach found in the literature, the proposed methodology enables integrated, multiframe target detection and tracking incorporating the statistical models for target aspect, target motion, and background clutter. ...
متن کاملOn the Performance of Multi-Target Passive Sonar Tracking in Clutter
The problem of tracking multiple targets with passive bearings-only measurements is extremely challenging and rarely addressed explicitly in the literature. The difficulty arises mainly due to the low information content and non-linearity of the received measurements. Furthermore, effects such as high clutter density, closely spaced targets, and crossing targets are commonplace in passive track...
